Dances With Words

The City of Waterbury Bureau of Recreation and Leisure’s after school dance program, Dances With Words, hosted by the Palace Theater, is a 12 week after-school dance/movement program related to poetry that offers Waterbury residents ages 4 - 15 their choice of classes in a variety of dance disciplines divided by age.

Classes focus on fostering an appreciation of poetry and dance as individual art forms and creative means of telling a story, while developing the physical skills needed to practice dance as a life long form of exercise. As part of the program, students also receive a complimentary ticket to attend a dance-oriented presentation at the Palace.

Class offerings are determined by student registration and include:

• Creative Ballet (ages 4-10)
• Tap (ages 4–15)
• Jazz/Hip Hop (ages 7-15)
• Poetry in Motion (ages 7-11).
